Yes... I guess the Chinese articles might have a bit of an ambigious wording so to give the impression that there has been a lot more action to date.

Anyhow I tried to find some information on potential energy projects and came across a 92 page report by WWF called:Exploring China's role as catalyst of renewable energy development in Africa", published in March this year.

I was thrilled to see that it included 3 case studies, one of which was Mozmabique. So my disappointment was great when i realised that the entire case study pretty much dealt with China's role in constructing the Mpanda Nkua dam....refrencing an earlier WWF/CCS study which in turn based the information on a 2009 article from Macauhub.

Makes you realise how important it is to make sure your sources are recent because information gets old/outdated very very fast in this topic.

Hi Sigrid -- Chinese companies are currently preparing proposals to access the funding available for these projects. I spoke with one in Tanzania a couple of weeks ago that had submitted a voluminous proposal for a biogas project. So they are taking the market model (as with many of the FOCAC pledges). I don't know how the decisions are being made though. Interesting topic to research ...

This question is not related to the above post, but I would love to hear your interpretation.

I've been reading some reports with the headlines along the line of "China implements 100 clean energy projects in Africa".

These projects were the outcome of the 2009 FOCAC meeting. What I find unclear in these articles is wether or not these projects have even begun to take off, completed, or if they are still just in the planning stage.
